Chad Lowe Biography
Charles “Chad” Lowe (born January 15, 1968) is an American
actor, and the younger brother of actor Rob Lowe. He won an Emmy
Award for his starring role in Life Goes On as a man suffering with
HIV. He has also had recurring roles on ER, Melrose Place, and Now
and Again. He is perhaps best known for his role as Deputy White
House Chief of Staff Reed Pollock on the sixth season of 24.
Lowe began his acting career in his teens, co-starring with Tommy
Lee Jones and Robert Urich in the 1987 made-for-TV film April
Morning, which depicted the battle of Lexington in the American
Revolutionary War. Lowe made his directorial debut in 2000, with
the short film The Audition. He also directed Beautiful Ohio, which
was released in 2007.
Lowe was born in Dayton, Ohio, the son of Barbara (née Hepler), a
teacher, and Chuck Lowe, a lawyer.
He was married to actress Hilary Swank between 1997 and 2006. Swank
infamously forgot to thank Lowe during her acceptance speech after
winning her first Academy Award in 2000 (for Boys Don't Cry), and
she spent nearly every public appearance afterward making up for
it. Upon winning her second Oscar in 2005 for Million Dollar Baby,
Lowe was the first person she thanked.
On January 9, 2006, Lowe and Swank announced their separation, and
in May of the same year, they announced their intention to divorce.
Their divorce was finalized later that year, as discussed by Lowe
during his January 24, 2007 interview on Larry King Live.
On January 19, 2007, his rep announced that Lowe is dating producer
Kim Painter. On January 29th, 2009, it was announced that they are
expecting their first child in early summer 2009.
